SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION: 9th-12th grade
From the Archdiocese of Santa Fe:
Please make sure that all Confirmandi are in High School (9th - 12th grade). Although some teenagers are of "high school age", if they are 7th or 8th grade they should wait until they are in high school to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
You can start their formation in 7th and 8th grades, but they cannot be presented for Confirmation until they are in 9th grade or higher. Please do not use the loophole that they have been "promoted" to the 9th grade for the coming school year.

Not the name of a place or thing in the Bible (Sepulcher, Galilee, Manger). Not a newly created name splicing two Saint's names together (Juanlupe for Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe).
This should be a simple process. Each Confirmandi need to choose a Saint whose characteristics they want to emulate to grow closer to God, a Saint whom they can pray to for intercession. Not because the name sounds good; or because is the name of a friend, relative or movie star!

Parents cannot serve as sponsors for their own children.
The qualifications to serve as sponsors are:
Perhaps offering a night of Reconciliation for the Confirmandi and Sponsors together could be offered. It has been noted that some sponsors are simply receiving a blessing during Communion.
Please, ensure there is only one (1) sponsor per confirmandi.

Mining the Meaning of the Bible. Beyond the literal word

“A few years ago, my niece, Nancy, was about to celebrate her birthday. I wanted to get her a gift, maybe a book. Her dad asked me, ‘Do you know about any books that would help Nancy understand the Bible? She is full of questions about it.’ (...) There were lots of Bibles for kids, but no books that would help Nancy understand the Bible. So, I decided to write a book for Nancy—and for you— so we could go mining for the treasures of the Bible.” From the Foreword.
Some people read the Bible as if they were reading a local newspaper or a book written several years ago. But the Bible was written thousands of years ago. Try this: go to a library and pick up a book that was written only a hundred years ago. You will probably find that it is not easy to read, and that sometimes you don’t understand the stories and ideas, even though you may recognize the words.
The Bible was not written a hundred years ago but much, much earlier. As a matter of fact, the Bible is not one book but many books —72 books from the Book of Genesis through The Book of Revelation— written between two and three thousand years ago, although some of the stories are still older.
The Bible tells us the Word of God through the stories, traditions, laws, sufferings, dreams, proverbs, wisdom, battles, exiles, etc. of His people. Thus, it is important to know their culture, language, symbols, values, beliefs and so on in order to be able to understand the Word of God. Otherwise, we may think that God is talking when, actually, we haven’t gone beyond the stories and beliefs of the people.
The same words, symbols, numbers, stories and parables may not mean the same today as they did two thousand years ago. This doesn’t mean that the Word of God is less powerful today than when it was written. But it is important to understand why and how the Word of God was proclaimed to the people if we want to understand what the Bible tells us today.
Mining the Meaning of the Bible, a short book —63 pages in small format— written by Sister Sallie Latkovich is a simple and insightful introduction to the Bible that any person thirsty for the Word of God should read. I recommend it to candidates for confirmation, parents, sponsors, and all readers of the Bible.

Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times at the word of Elisha, the man of God. His flesh became again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean of his leprosy. Naaman returned with his whole retinue to the man of God. On his arrival he stood before Elisha and said, "Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel. Please accept a gift from your servant." Elisha replied, "As the Lord lives whom I serve, I will not take it;" and despite Naaman's urging, he still refused. Naaman said: "If you will not accept, please let me, your servant, have two mule-loads of earth, for I will no longer offer holocaust or sacrifice to any other god except to the Lord."

As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, "Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?" Then he said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has saved you."
