From the Archdiocese of Santa Fe:
Please, ensure there is only one (1) sponsor per confirmandi.
The only exception to have two sponsors is if they are the original baptismal sponsors.
Parents cannot serve as sponsors for their own children.
The qualifications to serve as sponsors are:
Perhaps offering a night of Reconciliation for the Confirmandi and Sponsors together could be offered. It has been noted that some sponsors are simply receiving a blessing during Communion.
