Life/ Art and Science met: From Conception to Birth

Alexander Tsiaras is an artist, an expert in several computer languages, and a visionary of the possibilities of medical imaging technology. Taking the data – he says "it’s all just information" – from CT and MRI scans, he is able to create images that reveal the depth and beauty of human existence. This 10-minute video from the TED /Ink conference focuses on his work demonstrating the human being from the moments before conception through birth. The images are breathtaking – well worth watching.

Prayer for the Sick (1)

Almighty and Eternal God,
You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You.
Hear us for Your sick servant (N..........)
for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy,
that being restored to bodily health,
he/she may give thanks to You in Your Church.
Through Christ our Lord.

Prayer for the Sick (2)

Watch, O Lord,
with those who wake,
or watch,
or weep tonight,
and give your angels charge
over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake.
Amen.

Saint Augustine

Prayer for the Sick and Seniors

All praise and glory are yours,
Lord our God.
For you have called us to serve you
and one another in love.
Bless our sick today
so that they may bear their illness
in union with Jesus' sufferings
and restore them quickly to health.
Bless those who have grown old in your service
and give them courage and strength in their faith.
Lead us all to eternal glory.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
